WHAT IS GROUNDWATER?
Groundwater is from rain or water used by humans and animals.Because of gravity, the water seeps from the surface into the ground below it. The water flows through layers of soil and rocks until it reaches underground. So, it can be found in cracks and spaces in soil and rocks. As a result, the water accumulates minerals dissolved from those geologic layers and fills large cavities forming groundwater resources.
WHY CAN’T WE USE PUMPED GROUNDWATER RIGHT AWAY?💦
Unlike water on the earth’s surface, groundwater or well water contains unpredictable content. When we pump the water out of the ground(sometimes even deeper than 20 meters), high quantities of heavy metals and methane come with the water. These unwanted elements found in groundwater can be deadly to your fish. That’s why you shouldn’t use groundwater right away! It’s essential to let the water sit and condition it properly to eliminate the toxic gas and allow the heavy metals to settle.
HOW TO PREPARE GROUNDWATER FOR YOUR FISH TANK💦
The water pumped out of the ground contains diverse content –
depending on its geologic levels and locations. Commonly, the quality of
groundwater isn’t suitable for raising fish or other aquatic animals. So,
it’s essential that you first condition the groundwater to be in a safe
condition. As described above, it includes harmful elements like heavy
metals and methane. Therefore, don’t use it right away.
Learn how to prepare and condition groundwater as follow :🐠
1. Fill containers like earthen jar or basin with groundwater and let
the water sit for 2-3 days. Doing this allows the groundwater to
2. Turn on the oxygen air pump to oxygenate the water. Or, use the
well water straight from a hose to the container to make heavy
metals settle quicker and eliminate toxins.
3. Around 2-3 days, the sediments will be visible at the bottom of the
container. Only use the top part where the water’s not
4. Add the water enhancer products like TANTANIC, AQUATAN, or
BLUE TANNIC. Our Tannin extracts help condition the water to be
ideal for raising fish. If there are still leftover contaminants,
Tantanic can pull the unwanted content and adjust the water to be
in non-toxic condition.
